Position Summary:
Plans and performs engineering work in developing and/or improving product, processes, equipment, quality, and/or systems. Assignments are a variety of production challenges and require using standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Develops clear and specific objectives for given assignments. Develops thoughts and ideas into engineered solutions with appropriate review of other subject matter experts. Provides guidance to co-ops, technicians, and other engineers.  
Effectively participates in a team setting to achieve results. Applies project management methods to effectively execute individual projects assignments. Develops a product knowledge expertise for assigned area of responsibility.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Support and continuously improve processes, capacity & equipment using current project management, process control tool methodology.

  • Identify, create and apply best practices and standards within the operations group.

  • Provide analytical problem solving and process troubleshooting support in area of expertise.

  • Trains engineers, technicians and non-technical associates. Actively supports the development of co-ops, technicians and engineers.

  • Ensures processes capably produce products and components at a specified production rate and troubleshoots any issues.

  • Ensures equipment is safe to operate and properly maintained.

  • Provides quotes for in-plant manufacturing costs.

  • Is an operations resource for technical questions, processes and product-lines.

  • Communicates progress through management updates and team meetings. 

  • Coordinates the work of drafters, technicians, engineers and others who assist on specific assignments.

  • Works with project personnel to ensure the smooth implementation of process development work into plant operations.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Required:
Education:  BS degree in a technical field plus appropriate continuous training.

Preferred:
Experience:  2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Skills/Knowledge:  Demonstrates ability to complete major and complex assignments or parts of larger assignments. Advanced problem solving and decision making abilities. Good oral and excellent written communication. Demonstrates proficient communication, programming and troubleshooting skills. Strong abilities in the use of moderately complex technical tools and lab equipment and instrumentation. (Equipment may vary based on department). Manages multiple projects simultaneously.  Excellent computer and typical office software skills.  Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical systems and PLC systems.
