Writing Internship (Hybrid)
As this is a hybrid role, working out of our Creative Studios in Westlake, Ohio, we will focus on candidates who have plans to reside in Northeast Ohio for the Summer of 2026.
Hi! We’re the Writing Studio at American Greetings.
It’s our job to give people the words to make someone smile, laugh, or even cry a little. If you have a strong voice that makes people listed; if you understand how to pair authentic language with art to create the perfect message; if you like delving into how people communicate, are just a little bit nerdy about grammar and punctuation – we want to hear from you.
The successful candidate for this internship will be an amazing writer, conceptor, and storyteller who is highly creative, curious, proactive, energetic, detail-oriented, and strategic. They’ll be responsible for writing and editing cards across a variety of occasions, tones, and topics.
They’ll participate in thoughtful debate about topics such as the lifecycle of slang, pop culture, generational differences, and the idiosyncrasies of English Spelling.
They’ll work with mentors to gain valuable experience working in a creative environment, collaborate with designers, get constructive feedback about their writing skills and professionalism, and learn how to make the world a more thoughtful and caring place.
Experience Required:
• Creative thinking, concepting, writing and editing demonstrated by portfolio, published works, blog, or a strong social media presence.
• Include a URL link or PDF of your writing samples is required.
• Please introduce yourself with a cover letter that lets us get to know you and your voice. We’re especially interested in humor writers, so if you can make us laugh, all the better.

Internship Program Summary:
• Dates of Internship: This is a 10-week, paid internship (Monday, June 1, 2025 – Friday, August 7, 2026)
• Location: Westlake, Ohio
• Work Environment: You will be working in a hybrid environment that requires working on-site, at least, 2 days each week.
• Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
• Our Internship Program is designed to provide students with real and meaningful work experiences in their field of interest while providing valuable insight into other key areas of the business.
• Along with the work you will be performing, we have curated a calendar of events and learning opportunities that will keep you engaged and excited!
Requirements:
• Must have plans to reside in Northeast Ohio for the Summer of 2026
• There is no housing stipend associated with this internship
• Minimum of two years of undergraduate course work is preferred
• Must be able to work full time hours for the duration of the internship
Education Required:
• A minimum of 2 years of undergraduate course work in English or Creative Writing is preferred. May also consider Theatre, Communications, Marketing, or other relevant areas of study.
