Membership and Outreach Manager
Founded in 1912, The City Club of Cleveland has upheld the tradition of debate and discussion for more than a hundred years. We are non-partisan, which means we don’t take positions on issues, but we are fierce advocates of engagement. Our speakers from sitting presidents to community activists have answered unfiltered, unrehearsed questions directly from the audience because we firmly believe in the free expression of ideas and the benefits of open and respectful dialogue.
The City Club is known for a collaborative and welcoming organizational culture driven by high performance, creativity, and individual accountability. The Membership and Outreach Manager is responsible for cultivating relationships with the City Club community including members, community partners, and speakers through existing communication channels as well as providing critical administrative support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Community Partnerships
- Develop and work with a strong network of community partners to encourage audience growth and program reach and to create compelling marketing campaigns to help ensure that key audiences attend forums
- Coordinate community partner participation details on forum days
- Collaborate with the Communications and Program Innovation Manager and the Director of Programming to develop copy and promotional materials to effectively market and promote City Club programs and events
- Cultivate relationships with external organizations to promote the City Club and generate new members
Membership Relations
- Design and implement membership campaigns, in collaboration with marketing and content resources
- Manage quarterly membership renewals including generating letters, follow-up emails, and phone calls to secure renewals
- Execute annual appeals including spring and year-end giving campaigns
- Provide support to members who contact the City Club to make reservations, renew their membership, etc.
- Provide concierge service to our Philanthropy Circle members
- Collaborate with the Communications and Program Innovation Manager to design and implement cultivation programs for members including committees, events, incentives, and forum recognition
Executive and Office Management
- Maintain CEO’s calendar and schedule meetings
- Coordinate notices and responses for meetings of the Board of Directors for the City Club and Forum Foundation, as well as Executive and Finance Committees.
- Maintain the City Club database including updating contact information and mailing lists and validating data regularly
- Send acknowledgements to Individual Donors
- Assist CFO with processing invoices, bills, and deposits
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong collaboration skills with a focus on positive intent and ability to partner effectively with others in the pursuit of common goals
- Emotional intelligence, including the ability to build trust in a variety of relationships through candor, reliability, and authenticity
- The capacity to embrace and draw from diversity and inclusion to improve the quality of work and develop and work with a diverse network of community partners
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven capacity for good decision-making, attention to detail and follow-through
- Interest in community building strategies to attract new members and strengthen community partnerships
- Experience with database management including tracking performance, designing reports, and managing mailings and other communications
- Familiarity with social media and a healthy curiosity about new technologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently including updating the team on activities and communicating needs and opportunities effectively
SALARY & BENEFITS
The City Club of Cleveland offers a hybrid work environment, competitive total compensation package including healthcare, matching 401k, paid time off, parking, and leadership development opportunities.
The hiring range for this position is $50,000-$55,000 annually which reflects budgeted compensation for this role. Candidates should expect offers to be made within this range based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
