Description
Facing History and Ourselves brings the Plexus community together for the Cleveland Screening of Senior Prom, by award-winning documentary filmmaker, Luisa Conlon. Senior Prom is about LGBTQ elders finding happiness, confidence, and desire in a world "where they just don’t feel that there’s room for them," the filmmaker told LGBTQ Nation.
Many elders in the film talk about skipping their prom because they were gay. In fact, prom discrimination continues today, enough so that the ACLU has brought several lawsuits. Read more about the film and this area of awareness and advocacy in this LGBTQ Nation article.
Luisa Conlon and Facing History’s Executive Director, Mark Swaim-Fox will lead a discussion following the screening.
