Description
PLEXUS CONNECTS SPEAKER SERIES
As the adage goes, “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” We know that working as a team creates better outcomes than any one person could do alone. However, when working on a team, sometimes the greatest challenges lie not in the project ahead, but in the relationships between.
In order to achieve strong relationships and teams, we must work towards inclusion, where everyone feels like they belong and can contribute their best work. In this program, participants will learn how to ethically and responsibly leverage diversity in a group, examine and analyze team cultures, and will be provided best practices to create a more inclusive work team.
Speaker Bio:
Caitlin Hawkins, MSSA, MNO; Senior Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Consultant
As a community social worker, Caitlin (she/her/hers) is passionate about creative, authentic engagement in workplaces and communities. Her educational and professional experiences in community development and higher education lead her to the understanding that relationships matter, and that relationships with people who are different from ourselves provide opportunities for immense growth and collaboration, as long as we know how to harness those connections.
At The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio, Caitlin manages a team that works alongside businesses and organizations through every step of the consulting process and engages staff in customized workshops around the topics of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Caitlin works with the express intention of facilitating the growth of inclusive and equitable workplaces in the active pursuit of a more just world.
