TransOhio's 15th Annual Trans & Ally Symposium, Now More Trans Than Ever

Providers Day - Friday, September 6, 2024
Providers Day is specifically directed towards providers of the greater trans and nonbinary communities. Continuing education credits may be offered for qualifying professionals at no additional cost.
Target Audience:
- Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Medical Asssitants, other Medical Professionals, and Students interested in expanding their practical knowledge in treating transgender and gender diverse patients;
- Attorneys, Paralegals, other Legal Professionals, and Law Students interested in expanding their practical knowledge in advocating for transgender and gender diverse clients;
- Social Workers, Therapists, Guidance Councelors interested in expanding their practical knowledge in caring for transgender and gender diverse clients;
- Teachers and other Educators interested in expanding their practical knowledge in supporting transgender and gender diverse students; and
- Other Providers.
Objectives:
- Develop a foundational knowledge about gender diversity, including appropriate communication specific to transgender persons; identifying, and avoiding distressing features of the setting; understand barriers to and disparities within the community;
- Understand, appreciate, and learn to provide high quality medical, social, and behavioral health or legal services to transgender and gender diverse communities;
- Become familiar with the social and financial resources that enable efficient and effective health care to transgender and gender diverse populations; and
- Develop working knowledge of the resources and options for transgender and gender people and their families.
General Symposium - Saturday, September 7, 2024
The General Symposium will feature keynote presenter, a choice of sessions, complimentary snacks, access to vendors, and time with representatives of local community organizations and resources.
Target Audience:
- Community members who self-identify as trans, non-binary, Two-Spirit, gender nonconforming, or another gender diverse identity, as well as
- Family members, friends, allies, and
- Those wishing to expand their knowledge about issues affecting the trans community here in Ohio and elsewhere.

History, Culture, Media, & Arts

General Symposium - Sunday, September 8, 2024
The last day of the Trans & Ally Symposium will focus on allyship and families. While the entire event is appropriate for all ages, many youth will find Sunday the most engaging and beneficial.
Target Audience:
- Community members who self-identify as trans, non-binary, Two-Spirit, gender nonconforming, or another gender diverse identity, as well as
- Family members, friends, allies, and
- Those wishing to expand their knowledge about issues affecting the trans community here in Ohio and elsewhere.

Hosted by Wright State University LGBTQA Center, the 15th Annual TransOhio Trans & Ally Symposium: "NOW MORE TRANS THAN EVER" will take place from Friday, September 6, 2024, thru Sunday, September 8, 2024, on campus at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
Parking, refreshments, and entertainment is offered for attendees at no additional charge. Donations towards the Ohio Name Change Microgrants will be accepted but are not required in order to participate.
