Description
Convergence-continuum presents the Ohio premiere of The Pride by Alexi Kaye Campbell, running March 29 – April 20. The time-bending play interweaves the love stories of two similar pairs separated by fifty years, each with very different outcomes. The Pride is a diptych portrait of two parallel love stories with very dissimilar outcomes, in 1958 and 2008, between different pairs of characters named Phillip and Oliver. In 1958 Phillip, who is married to Sylvia, has an illicit affair with Oliver, which would have been considered a criminal offense if it were ever discovered. In 2008 a different Phillip and Oliver have the freedom to conduct their relationship in the open. But do they appreciate the freedom to be who they are - or even know what to do with that freedom? One play. Two stories interweaving in time. Winner Laurence Olivier Award: Outstanding Achievement Winner GLAAD Award: Outstanding New York Theatre Production Winner Critics’ Circle Award: Most Promising Playwright The Pride is directed by convergence-continuum’s Jonathan Wilhelm and features con-con actors David Munnell, Brian Westerley, Amy Bistok and Beau Reinker.
