SUMMARY:ERG Council: National Coming Out Day Planning
DESCRIPTION:National Coming Out Day (NCOD) is an annual LGBTQ+ awareness day observed on October 11 to support anyone "coming out of the closet".  This day was originally created with a belief that homophobia thrives in an atmosphere of silence and ignorance and that once people know that they have loved ones who are members of the community\, they are less likely to maintain homophobic or oppressive views.\n\n \n\nGiven all of the current and pending legislation as well as many hostile actions being taken against members of our LGBTQ+ community\, the need to provide visible support promoting a safe\, inclusive climate is critically important. During our August ERG session\, we will explore and share some of the past and future activities our members have done to commemorate this day.  Please bring examples of education\, storytelling\, ally support or other means you've executed to demonstrate support for NCOD.\nMeeting Agenda\n\n1. Opening/Context\n\n2. Brief Mentimeter polling to engage group and capture some basic information from the team real-time\n\n3. Group sharing of examples (past & future) to show support for NCOD\n\n    - education\n\n    - storytelling / coming out stories\n\n    - allyship stories\n\n    - resources/support\n\n    - other\n\n4.
