Community Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy Sponsors Minority Health Alliance Professional Conference
April 01, 2017
On March 25, 2017 the Minority Health Alliance held a conference titled "Addiction, Psychological Trauma & Advocacy : What Every Caregiver Should Know". As drug abuse continues to be an ongoing epidemic and opioid overdoses have skyrocketed, we see an opportunity where pharmacists can play a key role in educating the public about the risks, signs, and how to respond to an overdose. Community Walgreens advocates for any friend, family member, caregiver, co-worker, mentor, or neighbor of anyone struggling with opioid use or addiction to stay safe by obtaining an emergency naloxone kit to help prevent any accidental overdose situation. By providing basic demographics and pharmacy insurance information, we can provide a kit at no charge to anyone with commercial or medicaid insurance.
